Q: How often do you think about your hair?
A: Daily! I love my hair. It’s always been such an integral part of my overall style…even my identity to some extent. Your hair can completely transform your overall look. As I’ve gotten older, my hairline is thinning on the sides, which doesn’t look great when I wear my hair up. I am also concerned about dryness and grays. Dry hair can definitely make you look older.
Q: How does a good hair day make you feel?
A: Like a million bucks! It gives you an extra confidence boost that helps you face any challenge that comes your way.
Q: How are you using the Commence product?
A: I’m using the root serum to see if I can add thickness to my hairline. I’m loving the 3-in-1 Leave-In Conditioner too! My hair looks sleeker (with less frizz) and feels so much softer when I use it. And unlike many other products I’ve used, it doesn’t weigh down my hair. It feels light and bouncy after using it. After using the 3-in-1 conditioner, my hair feels so much softer, looks smoother and is a cinch to style! It also gives my hair incredible volume.
Q: What is the best part of aging? Q: What is the most challenging part?
A: I’ve noticed more and more lately that I simply don’t care as much about what others say or think about me, and that is a beautiful thing. There are so many things that used to trigger me or derail my day. Not anymore. Age can give you so much courage and wisdom.
The most challenging part of aging? Feeling like you’re still so young, but you no longer look so young. Sometimes I see people my age online or in person and think, “Who are all these old people?”
Q: How do you typically start and end your day?
A: I have a whole ritual in the morning that includes making my bed, washing my face, taking herbs, supplements, hormones, enjoying my latte, and working out. I usually end the day by tucking in my daughter, Elizabeth, which I will continue to do as long as she’ll let me. And, then I love to watch a great show to decompress. Usually, that is some sort of period drama—I’ve literally watched them all!
Q: What inspires you for what lies ahead?
A: I just hit a BIG milestone birthday…the big 5-0. And yet, I feel like life is just getting started. I think for the first time, I am truly living life for me, unencumbered by guilt, shame or shoulds, feeling free to move through the world in a way that brings joy and contentment.
Q: What inspires you?
A: I’ve always been so inspired by beauty, but somehow for a very long time, I rejected it, believing it was frivolous. Now that I’m older and wiser, I realize that an appreciation of beauty is wonderful. For example, some people will travel to places based on a Michelin star restaurant, but I will choose a place based on natural beauty and an amazing Airbnb or hotel. I love to be surrounded by beauty: beauty in nature, architecture, clothes, all of it! Now that I fully understand that about myself, I embrace it, and I’m much happier. I think the more you can be true to your authentic self, the more content you are day-to-day.
